Julie Posetti

Julie Posetti

Julie Posetti (PhD) is Global Director of Research at the International Center for Journalists (ICFJ). She is an award-winning journalist and researcher who is academically affiliated with the Centre for Freedom of the Media at the University of Sheffield, and the Reuters Institute for the Study of Journalism at the University of Oxford. She leads the ICFJ-UNESCO Online Violence Project, and researches at the intersection of journalism, press freedom, gender, disinformation and digital media. Her work has been published by The Atlantic, CNN, the BBC, The Guardian, Foreign Policy, the ABC, and The Sydney Morning Herald. She is the author of Protecting Journalism Sources in the Digital Age (UNESCO: 2017) and co-author of 'Journalism, Fake News and Disinformation' (UNESCO: 2018), and 'Balancing Act: Countering Disinformation While Respecting Freedom of Expression' (UNESCO: 2020). Previously, she led the Journalism Innovation Project at the Reuters Institute, held senior roles in Australian journalism, and worked as an Editor and Research Fellow with the World Editors Forum in Paris.
